If you want to get into the world of startups and entrepreneurship, TechStars is the place to be. Not every entrepreneurially minded individual is in the position to start a company. Some people just want to work with startups, learn about the startup world and hang out with the most interesting people: entrepreneurs. If you are one of these people, I invite you to apply to become a TechStars Associate! As an Associate, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with the TechStars class, gain from the mentorship of the TechStars network, and so much more.
I had the benefit of experiencing these opportunities firsthand as an Associate during the TechStars Boulder 2012 class. The sheer amount of information and knowhow I learned was incredible and the pace at which I learned it, more so. TechStars is more selective than Ivy League schools and, as an Associate, I was immersed in the ingenuity and work ethic of the founders on a daily basis. The mentorship at TechStars is both high in quality and high in quantity – another aspect of the program that I was exposed to as an Associate. The most wonderful aspect of being an Associate was the control that I had over what projects I was working on, who I was interacting with, and who I had access to. This independence, combined with limitless opportunity, is a rare glance into the life of an entrepreneur and the feel of working for a startup.
As a TechStars Associate, you’ll be tasked with one simple goal: help the TechStars class do more faster. How do you go about accomplishing that goal? That is completely up to you (and the founders, of course).
If you have any questions about the Associate position, or would like to hear more about my experience as an Associate (and the opportunities that stemmed from it), please feel free to send me a note at firstname.lastname@example.org.
TechStars Boulder is accepting applications for their 2013 Associate program – apply now! The Associate program is of equal caliber at all the TechStars locations so if the beautiful mountains and 300 days of sun here in Boulder are not for you, check out the other programs!
