chuToday we’re proud to announce Calvin Chu as the Managing Director for the R/GA Connected Devices Accelerator, powered by Techstars. A seasoned technologist, his expertise lies in connected devices and hardware. Calvin has designed over a dozen products and has been the Senior Technology Licensing Officer at Columbia Technology Ventures for the past five years. Calvin is currently a mentor for Entrepreneur Roundtable Accelerator (ERA) and The Product Mentor. He’s currently advising, mentoring and helping over a dozen companies including Stappler, Trendalytics, Thunderlily, NimbleDroid, eBrevia, and MVS Labs.

In his blog post about joining the Techstars team, Calvin writes, “These are exciting times for startups, but even more so for the rarest of this breed, the ones with a calling to build physical devices.  We’ve seen through vast changes in the business landscape thanks to globalization of manufacturing in the past few decades, and by-and-large in the wake of the manufacturing exodus, by dint of sweat and ingenuity, entrepreneurs have put this country onto the most positive footing when it comes to data services.”

Though applications for the program are now closed, he’d like to invite any and all connected devices startups far and wide to introduce themselves and get involved with the class, which begins December 2nd at R/GA campus in New York City. Follow along with the program on Instagram.
