In the last week I’ve had a chance to talk to many people in Boston about who would be the best person to take the solid foundation that Shawn Broderick built and bring it to the next level. Bill Warner, a founding investor in Boston, played a key part in this process. We received many great recommendations and Bill and I spent time talking seriously with about five fantastic candidates.

We’re pleased and excited to announce that effectively immediately Katie Rae will be our new Managing Director in Boston. Katie is well known on the entrepreneurial scene in Boston through her active role as co-founder and Managing Director at Project 11, an emerging seed fund in Cambridge. She is a lecturer at MIT, mentor and judge at MassChallenge, and an organizer of the Boston Open Angel Forum.

TechStars is really picking up steam, fueled by the awesome managing directors in each city. Andy Sack pulled off an amazing first session in Seattle and now David Tisch is kicking off New York with nearly 600 applications for the 10 spots in their first season.

With Katie’s help we are doubling down on Boston, which is currently open for applications. We are searching for a permanent Cambridge location and continuing to build our strong network of mentors and early stage investors. Katie’s signature energy and hands-on approach is a fantastic fit for TechStars and I look forward to getting great things done together.

Welcome, Katie!
