Last night, Shawn Broderick announced that he was stepping down from running the TechStars program in Boston after two years in order to focus on his own startup, play140.

Shawn will remain a mentor in the program in Boston, and we are actively searching for a new Managing Director there. If we can find someone with one tenth of Shawn’s passion for startups, we will be in good shape. We already have several strong candidates that we are speaking with and we expect to announce his replacement in the near future. It may take us some time, as these are large shoes to fill.

Thank you Shawn for everything you have done for Boston, for TechStars, and most importantly, for entrepreneurs. What you have accomplished in Boston has been no small feat. It has truly been an honor to work so closely with you, to learn from you, to laugh with you, and to be inspired by you. I know that the founders of the 19 companies that you helped launch agree with me wholeheartedly.
