Startup Weekends are organized around the world hundreds of times every year. If Startup Weekend Porto is your first time attending one, you might have some questions in mind.

Is this event for me? artup Weekend attendees’ backgrounds are roughly 50% technical (developers, coders, designers) and 50% business (marketing, finance, law). You do not need previous experience of startups. What unites all attendees is a common interest in entrepreneurship: whether a serial entrepreneur or new to the startup scene, every attendee is interested in working with a like-minded, motivated and skilled team to develop a product or business in one weekend. If this sounds like you, this is the event for you!

What does the ticket include? Participation costs 55 euros. With this ticket you can join a team, listen to the pitches, work a startup with new people, learn from the mentors and finally take part in the Sunday pitching contest. The ticket also includes facilities for the entire weekend as well as 8 meals (two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, two evening snacks). Remember to take advantage of discount codes, if you have been provided with one! You can sign up here.

Should I have a business idea in mind for the Friday pitching? No, this is optional. On Friday everyone who wants to pitch can do so, but no one is required to. You can also just listen to other people pitching and then pick the ideas that seem the best to you.

How should I prepare for Startup Weekend? You might want to take a look at different resources that we have collected for you. This way you will have plenty of ideas on how to start working when you have your team! If you have an idea you want to introduce on Friday, practice your 60 second pitch. On the actual weekend, you will need the following with you:

  • Laptop
  • Power cord
  • Business cards
  • Camera – take pictures and video!
  • Lots of creative energy!

Where can I find more information? Event website has schedule, mentor profiles and other details about the event.
