Sydney Startup Weekend is back and bigger than ever!

After taking an 18 month hiatus, we are super excited to announce that the Sydney Startup Weekend is back – and oh boy is it coming back in style!

What is the Startup Weekend?

Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 1800 past events in 120 countries around the world in 2014.

What does it involve?

Teams of ‘hackers’ (programmers), ‘hipsters’ (design/UX skills) and ‘hustlers’ (business skills) organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) on Friday night. Then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation interspersed with mentoring sessions from some of the top up and coming entrepreneurs from the local scene.

The weekend culminates with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

Who will be there?

This is the most exciting part! Sydney Startup Weekend 2014 has reached out to bring the absolute best of the best to mentor and judge at this year’s competition. Here is just a taste of who we have locked in so far as Judges and Mentors (with more to come!).
