The Startup Weekend Nagpur judging criteria is broken up into three sections. Teams are judged according to the following 3 criteria (weighed equally):
How does the team plan on making this a successful business? Have they thought about (either solved or identified problems) competition, how to scale, acquiring customers, their revenue model etc?
Are teams building something that people actually want? How well does the team understand their customer and their customer’s needs. Did the team get out and talk to customers? What is the value proposition to customers?
Execution & Design
- Have they established a “Minimal Viable Product” for the weekend (software, hardware, etc.)? *Note: an MVP is the minimum set of features to be able to start collecting data. Does it deliver a compelling and captivating user experience? Were they able to demo something functional?
Startup Weekend Nagpur Bootcamp March 24th, 2015 Who doesn’t love a teaser that leaves you wanting for more? A mock pitching session was just the spark needed to ignite the spirit of a dreamer in the super cool participants of the first ever Startup Weekend Nagpur Bootcamp. This wasn’t like any other pitching session, the participants were first asked to write two words that came to mind when they heard the word ‘funny’. For obvious reasons they came up with the weirdest, most ridiculous stuff on the chart paper. This was just the beginning, the fun was yet to begin. These enthusiasts were now divided into teams of six, randomly, and were asked to choose their team leaders. The leaders now faced the challenging task of selecting two of these ‘funny’ words, think of a viable product based on these, and make a one minute elevator pitch. Suddenly, what began as a stage for eminent speakers had become a pitching ground, where began a series of awesome pitches with the crowd rooting for their sheer creativity and delivery. From ‘Mirchi Condoms’ to ‘GPL-Negative Feedback Website’ it was a fun ride of wits and innovation. These pitches were also scrutinized by an experienced panel of judges who pointed out the key points to be taken into consideration while making a pitch. Overall, it was a really educating session carried out in such a gaming fashion that everyone loved it.
