Started at Boston Startup Weekend in late 2009, Zazu helps users manage their daily information (both business and personal) to stay organized and well-informed.  We got the inside scoop from Punit Shah, Zazu co-founder and CEO.

Our team is…

Punit Shah, Co-founder and CEO, 3rd time entrepreneur, focused on business development, marketing and operations.  Marc Held, Co-founder and CTO, jack of all trades in development, futurist and food connoisseur. Pascal Chesnais, Chief Scientist, MIT Media Lab alum with an IP portfolio focused on innovative media consumption models. Andrew Berkowitz, mobile developer and resident hacker.

What’s your elevator pitch?

The Zazu Mornings technology on Android and iPhone uses voice and intelligence in presenting users with personal information that helps them navigate their day. The technology integrates a user’s calendars, local weather, deals, personalized news, and custom content and presents it through a hands-free spoken audio stream or hands-on interactive experience.

The word that best describes our startup is…

Ambitious!

Our biggest milestone to date is…

Releasing technology on iPhone, Android and Blackberry.

The biggest challenge our startup has overcome since Startup Weekend was…

Building the right team without outside funding.

The single best piece of startup advice we’ve gotten is…

“Be Present” – Jeff Taylor

If we could hire anyone to join our team, it would be _______ because…

Hire an office DJ because we’re constantly DJ’ing different types of music amongst ourselves.

We know our startup will be successful because…

We’ve found an important set of trends that are converging, especially with the proliferation of internet connected devices and the information on the internet driving our decisions everyday. There is a really big opportunity in the evolution of how people consume personal information and media content.
