At first glance, the 13 Startup Weekends held this past Friday through Sunday don’t look very similar. At one end of the spectrum there was Beirut Startup Weekend: roughly 300 participants formed over 30 teams in the country’s first event. At the other end, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Sofia, Bulgaria kept their events more intimate with just four teams each. Boston Startup Weekend focused on mobile-based startups and NYC Startup Weekend targeted artists and designers. Indianapolis Startup Weekend held their first ever event while Seattle Startup Weekend saw familiar faces at their 7th event. Regardless of these differences, however, each Startup Weekend was the same at heart. Entrepreneurs from all walks and stages of life came together to collaborate, innovate and create. From first time attendees to startup junkies, over 1000 people dedicated their weekends to building new skill sets, relationships, and ventures.
But the weekend isn’t over yet! Be sure to stay tuned: After hearing a combined total of nearly 150 pitches, judges from around the world selected one team from each event to participate in Startup Weekend’s very own Global Startup Battle. Videos are now live on the Global Startup Battle website, ready for viewing, voting, and sharing. Voting ends on November 17th at 8 PM PST so be sure to check out the videos and vote for your favorite!
