MIMIX is a web and mobile app which builds on speech recognition and 3D modeling technologies to translate speech into sign language in real-time. Still under development, MIMIX is currently focused on English-based communication, but in the future will be capable of transcribing multiple languages. MIMIX promises to be a powerful and highly useful new tool for the many millions of hearing impaired people around the world.
The MIMIX team consists of five talented individuals, two women and three men, from both Jordan and Lebanon: Pierre Daher, Jessica Abou Haydar, Pascale Baaklini, Akram Barakat, and founder Mahmoud Darawaheh.
Beirut Startup Weekend, branded “YallaStartup Weekend”, was co-organized by YallaStartup, a Beirut-based non-profit dedicated to fostering early-stage entrepreneurship throughout the MENA region. The event, the largest in Startup Weekend history, was a resounding success, bringing together motivated developers, designers, marketers, and businesspeople throughout the Middle East and beyond.
