Alastair Curtis is an International Launcher covering Africa for Uber. Prior to Uber, he worked at Morgan Stanley in London, worked in corporate development with Ericsson all over sub-Saharan Africa and completed a stint at a startup where they became the first company to use commercial drones to combat rhino poaching in South African game parks. That spawned his passion for entrepreneurship and led him to his current role at Uber. At Uber, he has the responsibility of creating something where previously there was nothing. From pre-launch diligence on payment systems and regulation to recruiting a team, developing partnerships with local car hire operators and drivers, creating a marketing and communications strategy and putting the city on a path to profit. He is from Cape Town, South Africa and received his honours degree in finance from the University of Cape Town.
