Eric Blumbergs is a Senior Engineer at Honda R&D Americas, Inc. (HRA) and part of the Automobile Technology Research Division located in Southfield Michigan. Mr. Blumbergs joined Honda in 2010 and is currently responsible for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) future technology investigation and is part of the ITS advanced prototype development team.
Prior to joining Honda, Mr. Blumbergs was at Alpine Electronics Research of America, Inc. for over 14 years. He held multiple positions including Chief Engineer of advanced technology research and strategic planning, focusing in the areas of infotainment and mobile multimedia. From 1997-98 he was the team lead responsible for the development of the first US traffic based navigation system utilized for the San Antonio model deployment. In the early 2000’s he helped lead the Alpine satellite radio initiative. From 2008-2010 he was a member of the team responsible for launching the industry first Pandora capable head unit.
Mr. Blumbergs also worked with AT&T as a system consultant and AT&T Bell Labs as a wireless communication project consultant.Mr. Blumbergs is an active member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and a long standing member of the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE). Mr. Blumbergs holds a BSEE with High Honor and a MSEE from Michigan State University.
