Julia is a Principal at Austinfish, LLC and works with technology entrepreneurs to help them start and scale great companies. She is an investor, board member and advisor to several startups and is often called upon as a leadership coach with a focus on engineering, staffing and functional operations. Prior to Austinfish, Julia was at VMware, Inc. where she was originally hired to open and grow VMware's very first remote engineering site in Cambridge, MA. Over the course of her eight years at VMware, Julia went on to run all of Global R&D, was the co-founder of VMware's Mobile Virtualization Platform and became the VP of Innovation where she led all efforts to foster and grow new products for VMware. Prior to VMware, Julia was the Vice President of Engineering at Akamai Technologies and has held technical management and consulting positions at several other startup and mature companies. Julia received her BA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and is a graduate of Boston University’s School of Business where she received her Master of Science degree in Management Information Systems.

Julia was born and educated in MA, but has traveled extensively around the world for business and pleasure. She lives in the Boston area with her three daughters. Julia has been an active Techstars mentor since 2014 and was a Mentor in Residence for Boston's Spring 2014 class.
