Rob Shurtleff has more than 20 years of software design, development, product marketing and management experience in high-profile, fast-growth technology companies and has been active in the venture community as an angel investor since 1996.
In 1999 Shurtleff founded Sightline Partners, a strategic consulting group focused on early stage companies in conjunction with a number of Venture firms in Seattle. Shurtleff served on the Board of Directors of Internap Network Exchange (NASD INAP) since January of 1997 through December of 2004, and had been involved with the company since its inception. He is also actively involved with a number of pre-public startups serving on the Board of Directors, advisory boards and he was also the interim CEO of Asta Networks in 2002.
From 1988 to 1998, Shurtleff held various management positions at Microsoft Corporation, primarily creating email products including Microsoft Exchange. Prior to working at Microsoft, he worked for Hewlett-Packard Company and Digital Equipment Corp in a variety of software development and management positions. He has a Bachelor or Arts degree in computer science from the University of California at Berkeley. He is currently a board observer at Flashsoft and Piston.
