  • What Startup Weekend Taught Me About Teamwork

Guest post by Alex from Sanderson Labs, attendee of Startup Weekend Sheffield in June 2016.  When I found out about @SWSheffield, I debated for a long time whether I should go or not. • Bob Moses

Bob Moses, the Vancouver bred duo consisting of Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance, came to life in the Brooklyn underground scene of 2012. Their debut album Days Gone By created a sound meshing guitar licks, a moody smolder and a dash of dance-floor ambience with lyrical depth and classic songwriting that lead the band to years of nonstop, worldwide touring, including appearances at every major festival from Glastonbury and Coachella, to EDC, Lollapalooza and beyond. • D∆WN aka Dawn Richard

D∆WN aka Dawn Richard has been one of the most prolific artists in the contemporary pop landscape since 2004 (first in Danity Kane then Diddy Dirty Money) and has totally reinvented herself and now a major critical press darling. She dropped her latest album, REDEMPTION, last year, which received massive acclaim and made several end of year lists (TIME, NPR, Pitchfork, New York Mag, Entertainment Weekly, Paste). In it, she speaks to current events with messages about race issues, gender inequality, self love, and female empowerment. She challenges social norms and has put forth a masterpiece set to transcend time. It’s the last part of her trilogy following including Goldenheart and Blackheart albums that also got huge critical acclaim, the latter of which was ranked as one of 2015's best albums by Pitchfork, FACT, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Stereogum, The FADER, Spin and many more.
