Today, David Tisch announced on his blog that he is stepping down from his day to day role at TechStars as Managing Director of our New York City program. David is leaving to pursue exciting and new projects of his own, but I will let him share the details when he is ready.
It’s been awesome to work with David Tisch over the last two years, and his impact on both TechStars and New York City’s startup community has obviously been incredibly profound. David co-founded TechStars New York two years ago, and it’s been an amazing ride. There have been 36 companies in TechStars NYC to date, and I know that David is very proud of all of them. Those companies have gone on to employ hundreds of people have raised well over $50M in venture capital so far. Many of their names are now familiar, such as CrowdTwist, OnSwipe, Shelby.
While it certainly won’t be the same around TechStars NYC without David Tisch involved on a daily basis, we’re very happy that he will remain involved with TechStars as an investor. He will also continue to be a mentor and will help us select companies as a member of our selection committee in NYC. Like the companies we fund, David Tisch will always be family at TechStars.
I know that I speak for everyone at TechStars when I say that we feel very fortunate to have worked with David Tisch, and we wish him great success in his next adventures in life.
