A few days ago, Sensobi announced that they had been acquired by GroupMe. Ajay and Andy have earned themselves a rare gold-colored Techstars T-Shirt, with the number “08” on the back of it (they are the eighth Techstars company to be acquired). Congratulations to Ajay and Andy and to GroupMe (who adds to an already fantastic team).

Sensobi is the first company from the inaugural Boston class of Techstars in 2009 to reach an exit, just two years later. Ajay and Andy built a leading social address book and personal CRM for the BlackBerry and we’re excited to see what they’ll be able to do by joining GroupMe, which already has tremendous adoption and $10M+ in recent funding.

Here’s what Sensobi said on their blog post announcing the acquisition:

“When we met GroupMe several months ago, we realized that we all shared the same vision: to help you stay in touch with your real life social network. This acquisition will allow us to join forces and continue good work towards that vision while helping expand GroupMe’s presence on BlackBerry. And as one way to say, “Thank You,” we’re happy to announce that we will be making Sensobi Contacts Pro FREE starting next week.”

Go Sensobi GroupMe, go!

Want to build an amazing company and maybe even get your own gold Techstars t-shirt? Applications are open right now for our NYC (deadline 5/26/11) and Seattle (deadline 6/1/11) programs.
