Recently, Garden Genie, a startup from New Zealand, beat out 15,000 participants from 40 countries at the 2013 Global Startup Battle E-Commerce Circle to win an entrepreneur’s dream, a month-long trip to Austin, Texas, to attend the interactive SXSW festival and be mentored by the executive team from Bigcommerce.
Not only did the one-on-one mentoring sessions at Bigcommerce’s headquarters continue Garden Genie’s market validation, it also got them closer to realizing their dreams. As founder Jennifer Clamp said, “I had a black and white picture before, and had some ideas about the opportunity, and now those ideas are coming to life and getting colored in through the conversations and experiences I’ve had.”

As for the future of Garden Genie, Mohit Singh, Solutions Lead at Garden Genie states, “Two years from now I see Garden Genie with 2 million active users and a really wide community around gardening.”
