How to get to Cork and where to stay for #swCork

This year swCork is on in Cork City Hall, which is a pretty amazing venue if we don’t say so ourselves; check out the pictures below. (Imagine pitching up there).

City Hall inside and outside!

We also have a new approach to mentoring, and we have 4 veteran mentors in residents, (yes, they’ve said they stick around to help for the whole weekend).

First you need to figure out how to get there,

Option 1 is driving, but we know thats not for everybody so we’ve put together a more comprehensive list.

From Dublin the Aircoach runs from Dublin every hour and can be booked on or from The train is always a great way to travel and can be booked from

If travelling from Limerick then you can take the train, or the bus, which can be planned from bus station to bus station at

We’ve also created a list of places to stay and how far they are from the venue.

1. Oscars hostel- 15 minute walk

2. Bar Bru hostel – 8 minute walk

3. Jurys Inn Cork – 5 minute walk

4. Clarion hotel – 2 minute walk

5. River Lee hotel – 15 minute walk

Let us know if you have any other question and we’ll be happy to help direct you in any way possible!

Startup Weekend Cork Crew

August 14th/15th/16th – Cork. Have you ever had the making of an idea that you thought could be a successful business? Have you ever wanted to see if that idea could be more than just an idea?

Startup Weekend is part of UP Global, the biggest entrepreneurship movement in the world with more than 2000 events per year taking place in 600+ cities globally.  It’s a 54 hour long event designed to make you in live in the skin of an entrepreneur for a weekend.

Kicking off Friday night, those who have an idea about a business they want to set up pitch in front of the other attendees (it’s laid back and friendly bunch, don’t you worry). Attendees select which idea they want to work on and form teams. Teams go through brainstorming, business plan development, and basic prototype creation helped by notorious industry mentors. On Sunday, all teams present their ideas in front of a larger audience and a sharp-looking, sharp-minded jury. That’s right, you go from an idea to an actual functioning startup in hours! There won’t be much sleep but you’ll meet people you don’t bump into on a regular Friday night in the pub – from business, marketing and software backgrounds to data scientists to coding enthusiasts.

Whether you are looking for feedback on a idea, a co-founder, a date (kidding, kind of), specific skill sets, or a team to help you execute, Startup Weekend is the perfect environment in which to test your idea and take the first steps towards launching your own startup. Right, come on now, no talk all action!

We would also like to thank our sponsors for making this event possible, without their support we would not be able to bring you this great event!
