It’s just like a festival.. entrepreneurial festival

hey you,

The Startup Weekend experience can be often compared to one of a festival. One that’s made with loads of creativity & ideas, being entrepreneurship oriented and all about the community => You get to validate (or invalidate) your ideas in a safe environment while giving it a go at this whole entrepreneurship thing.

Because it is a community event and because it is a educational event we’d like everyone to take part. It does not matter what skills you master and neither does your background. At Startup Weekend everybody is important, everybody can have an idea (or not, and that’s also OK) and most important everybody can be part of one of the amazing teams working for the entire weekend.

You can find the pricing of the tickets below. To ensure a valuable experience for everyone @SWTimisoara, we’re partnering up with amazing mentors, great partners & a global community. The event is completely led by volunteers and the costs of the tickets goes to making sure you have: mentors from all over (yes, both local & international), great food, swag (who doesn’t love goodies), prizes and so much more.

If you’ve made it this far make sure you get your ticket here.

Feel free to ping us for any questions &/ suggestions.

OverAndOut,

#SWTimisoaraTeam

Meet the Mentors: Vlad Isac

Vlad Isac

For those of you who don’t already know him, meet Vlad Isac. He is one of the mentors that will help you develop your startup in 54 hours at the event.

Vlad is a great support of the startup community in Timisoara with many projects in development, co-founder of hackTM and his own startup, Gesto. Besides that, he is involved in a lot of voluntary activities like CoderDojo Timisoara, organizing the first edition of StartUp Weekend Timisoara and much more.

He is also an online POS solution developer and coworking space owner.

When asked about his startup, Vlad said that: “Gesto is a smart stock control software, integrated with POS and ERP solutions, which leverage complex machine learning algorithms to output predictions for bakeries and fresh food retail, businesses that face a major level of specificity like high stock turnover caused by very short shelf life.”

Vlad will be a great mentor for this edition, and if you don’t believe us check what other people had to say about him:

I know Vlad from the Romanian startup community, we’ve met during How to Web where he represented Timisoara Startup Hub. I think his entrepreneurial experience with Gesto and his community development experience come hand in hand and make him a great professional to work with.

Bogdan Iordache – Advisor at Catwalk15

I’ve known Vlad for some time as a great supporter of the startup community in Timisoara. He’s a smart and highly energetic guy and I’d recommend him for his business acumen and his great entrepreneurial skills.

Philipp Kandal – General Manager EU / Head of Openstreetmap @ Telenav

SW Cluj Gets An Official Mobile App

This is the first year that Startup Weekend Cluj has an official mobile app that was masterly crafted by the mReady team. We believe it will prove to be a useful tool for all our attendees and are really excited to give it a try.

It’s an easy way to get a hold of everyone who’s present at the event. You can share ideas, find the right team mates and receive feedback. Startup Weekend Cluj mobile app makes it easy to reach out to mentors, whenever you need help and it offers all the useful data you need to know at just an arm’s reach. See what’s happening and stay up to date in just a few easy steps.

  1. Set up your profile

After you have downloaded and installed the app, it’s time to share with others who are you, what are your skills and who are you looking to meet. Based on the preferences you choose, you will receive personalized profiles suggestions. The more targeted your selection, the better results you will be given.

  1. Browse profiles to see who else is there

Browsing profiles is easy and fun. The app’s internal algorithm will make sure you only get relevant suggestions, based on your selected preferences. If you already know who you’re looking for, you can always search for their names in the category lists.

  1. Reach out to people

To start a conversation with someone, you’ll have to send them a message first, to let them know you’re interested. As soon as they get back to you, the adventure begins. You’ll see that there are also people interested in meeting you. Make sure you don’t keep them waiting. The magic happens when you let it happen.

We’re really excited to meet you soon! Get your app from the App Store or Google Play and let the fun begin! The login information will be sent via email only to Startup Weekend Participants.

Startup Weekend Cluj 2017

The 6th edition of Startup Weekend Cluj is set to take place during the weekend of March 17-19, 2017. Early Bird discounted tickets can be purchased until February 17. This is the place where creative ideas meet the skills & the passion to bring them to life.

Usually we tend to think about tech related products when the word startup is mentioned. While the tech component might play a more or less important part, there is a wide choice of areas to choose from, when thinking about starting your own company.

In the last few years the most amazing tech progress was made in the area of electronic & electrical devices, of course, but the new technologies have entered all human areas of activity. Take, for example, medicine, engineering, architecture, design, marketing, and also many more. A lot of great ideas have come to life and became successful stories, thanks to the founders’ courage to explore & make experiments.

Another reason we are so fond of and encourage pluridisciplinarity, is the mix of knowledge and solutions that can result in amazing discoveries, when brought together. Think of an architect’s expertise in organizing spaces, objects & activities, combined with a sociologist’s insights on human behavior. Each of them might be a great expert in their field, but when they work together, their power will increase exponentially. And this is true each time you put together two apparently unrelated disciplines: magic happens.

During previous Startup Weekend Cluj editions 520+ attendees have pitched 160+ business ideas. 68 teams have put their efforts into turning an idea to a prototype, a MVP or a detailed presentation, closely advised and encouraged by 60+ coaches.

We’ll soon start to announce this year’s edition mentors. Stay tuned to be up to date with the news. We believe in people and in their power to work together and to shape the future, which is why we strongly encourage you to Get the Early Bird Discounted ticket.

The event will take place at Exclusive Catering & Events, during the weekend of March 17-19, 2017.
