We’re pleased to announce that Startup Weekend is partnering with the United States Government and UNESCO to enhance and increase entrepreneurship and social business opportunities for young people around the world. To kick start the effort, local Organizers are putting on a special Startup Weekend at the Mutinerie Coworking space in Paris on October 25th, 2013.
This special edition of Startup Weekend will focus on social business projects and will include:
- 30 UNESCO delegates from 30 countries around the world (China, Egypt, Chile, Russia, Ghana, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, New Zealand, among others)
- Entrepreneurs from the Startup Weekend community and France and Europe looking to meet new people and build great social businesses.
The global partnership with the United States Department of State and UNESCO aims to spread entrepreneurial thinking and Startup Weekend style learning all over the world. Each one of the 30 delegates who participate in the Paris Startup Weekend event will have the opportunity to spread the passion of entrepreneurship back home and organize a UNESCO-sponsored Startup Weekend event in their country.
The weekend in Paris will culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders and the “winning” team will be publicly rewarded and congratulated by UNESCO officials at the UNESCO Youth Forum.
If you want to meet people from around the globe and put yourself in the shoes of a social entrepreneur, register now for the best weekend of your life!Update: This post was updated on 10.18.2013 to clarify language around the partnership between Startup Weekend, the United States Department of State, and UNESCO.
