Not only will Startup Weekend Miami prepare a new batch of budding entrepreneurs from November 19 to 21, but the occasion coincides with Global Entrepreneurship Week. Call it right timing or call it serendipity, what’s certain is local participants are encouraged to join for the best reasons.
True to the Startup Weekend ethos, the hectic 54-hours from Friday to Sunday guarantees free (delicious) food, valuable experience, and tons of networking opportunities with like-minded individuals. Don’t forget the presence of Kickass Speakers to add color and guidance to the invigorating proceedings. To date, with a solid three weeks until the kick off, Startup Weekend Miami is being supported by the Miami Downtown Development Authority, Incubate Miami, Startup Digest, and University of Miami’s own startup program The Launchpad. However, SW Miami is still accepting sponsors and the registration period is wide open as well, even though early bird rates have already met their deadline.
To further sweeten the deal, participants are given $100 of oDesk credit plus more of the same ($133.77 to be exact) from Twilio. Startup Weekend greenhorns are strongly advised to bring their own laptop and whatever hardware peripherals are necessary for an energy-fueled all nighter come Saturday. In the heat of Startup Weekend ideas and teams often collide with marvelous results, so one’s attitude toward both should be fluid. In the end, what matters is the execution.
Those eager to hop aboard have to shell out $75 for registration though students get a generous discount and only pay $40. For Twitter fiends, it is a must they use the #swmiami hashtag that makes it easier for others to keep abreast of the action. Aside from this, keep on rocking.
