Jim is the co-founder of BuildGroup which is a long-term investment holding company based in Austin, Texas. Mr. Curry has over 15 years of high growth technology leadership experience. Prior to joining BuildGroup Management, Mr. Curry spent nearly a decade in senior leadership roles at Rackspace, including, most recently, as the Senior Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development. Mr. Curry focused on the key initiatives and strategic pivots required to maintain the company's long-term growth, through development of new businesses organically as well as through acquisitions, which included managing Rackspace’s expansion into Asia, its launch into public cloud via the acquisition of Slicehost, and the development of the private cloud business. In 2010, Mr. Curry founded the OpenStack project, which is now recognized as the leading open source cloud infrastructure project and one of the fastest growing open source projects in history. Mr. Curry ran the OpenStack project until its transition to a foundation in 2012, at which point he served on its board of directors. In 2013, Mr. Curry was named a Cloud Computing Pioneer by Information Week. Prior to Rackspace, Mr. Curry held leadership roles at Dell, Bowstreet and Tivoli (both acquired by IBM). Mr. Curry earned his M.B.A. at Harvard and his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas.
