Sam Ritchie is software engineer and an expert in large scale systems and data analysis. During his 2.5 years as a senior software engineer on Twitter’s infrastructure engineering team, he built Summingbird, a framework that serves as the foundation for all realtime analytics and ad monitoring at Twitter. He is co-author of a number of open-source Scala and Clojure libraries, including Summingbird, Bijection, Algebird, Storehaus and Cascalog 2.

Currently, he is the co-founder of an early-stage startup called PaddleGuru. He lives in Boulder, CO and holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Princeton University. Sam is an avid endurance athlete; he was a member of the 2009 USA Canoe Kayak world championship team, and has competed in a number of 100+ mile canoe and running races. Sam’s been a proud Boulder resident since January of 2014.
