By Vijay Tirathrai, Managing Director of Techstars Riyadh Accelerator

Today is the kick-off of the first Techstars program in Saudi Arabia. We are excited to announce our investment in 12 startup companies from Saudi Arabia and the wider MENA region. These companies are innovating in 6 sectors including EdTech, FinTech, Logistics, and more.

We are also thrilled to be partnering with MCIT and Raed Ventures to help grow the startup ecosystem and drive innovation in the region. MCIT has been a leader in driving entrepreneurship and innovation in the Technology sector, led by the Vision 2030. Raed Ventures is on a mission to invest in innovative regional founding groups, and their regional expertise will help these companies navigate these markets.

Saudi Arabia is going through a once-in-a-century transformation of its economy. The country is witnessing a massive amount of investment, with the building of a digital infrastructure in all its vital sectors like the financial, health, and education.

The partnership between Techstars, MCIT, and Raed Ventures embodies that drive and ambition to serve these new opportunities. This program will enable regional startups to build sustainable businesses in Saudi Arabia and provide growth potential into the wider MENA region.

The Riyadh Techstars Accelerator program is scheduled for 13 weeks starting today and culminating into the Demo Day on 17th of February 2022 to mark the end of the program.
