Techstars, the worldwide network that helps entrepreneurs succeed, and MIH Consortium, Foxconn-initiated open electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem that promotes collaboration in the mobility industry, jointly announced the launch and opening of applications for the MIH for Startups powered by Techstars program, gathering new momentum in the smart mobility industry.

MIH for Startups powered by Techstars invites and encourages EV startups from around the world, whether it is an emerging electric vehicle brand, powertrain, energy management, autonomous driving, or other EV-related software and hardware, to participate in the 8-week global Founder Catalyst program, driving the future of the EV mobility industry. The program will take place from August to November 2022 and provide up to 20 startups with valuable masterclasses, mentorship, community, and access to the Techstars worldwide network of entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, and corporate partners.

The final 10 selected teams will receive free round-trip tickets to Taiwan to participate in the Pitch Day, to be held in November, and also EV-specific supply chain tours. The top three startups will get the chance to sit down with MIH to discuss proof-of-concept project opportunities and with the Foxconn investment team to discuss investment opportunities, and will be inducted as MIH partners. Apply today.

MIH currently has more than 2,370 members from 64 countries and regions. The mission is to realize key technologies, develop reference designs and standards, while MIH bridges the gap for alliance members resulting in a lower barrier to entry, accelerated innovation, and shorter development cycles. “The goal of MIH Open EV Alliance is to drive EV adoption through industry stakeholder collaborations. With Techstars related industry and international network, I believe the next generation of EV, autonomous and mobility services user experiences will be bright as we come together to create new innovative solutions and transform the automotive industry,” says Jack Cheng, CEO of MIH Consortium.

“Entrepreneurs can and frequently do change the world. This is why Techstars is working closely with MIH Consortium to advance the next wave of innovation in EV mobility. The MIH for Startups program will be robust and empowering for entrepreneurs that want to create a better automotive future,” says Maëlle Gavet, CEO of Techstars. Over the years, Techstars has supported more than 120 mobility-related startups, 108 energy-related startups, and 600 AI/ML-related startups in its global network. Techstars has also had the Detroit Mobility Accelerator, Smart Mobility Accelerator, and Italy’s first-ever Cities of the Future Accelerator in Torino, focused on smart, efficient, sustainable, and liveable cities.

Starting from July 2022, the MIH for Startups powered by Techstars program will host four public masterclasses with EV-related topics in the American, European, and Asian-Pacific regions, with Tricia Martinez, Managing Director of Future Industry Accelerator, Ted Serbinski, Managing Director of Detroit Smart Mobility Accelerator, and accelerator startup alumni as the speakers. The four public masterclasses welcome startups and people around the world who are interested in EV topics to join together.

Techstars and MIH share a common vision of driving connection and innovation through collaboration to help maintain a sustainable future. With Techstars’s global network and MIH’s EV ecosystem that promotes collaboration in the mobility industry, we believe that we can accelerate innovation for the next generation of electric vehicles, autonomous driving, and mobility service.
