Water is the lifeblood of our planet, and its scarcity is an increasingly urgent issue. With the growing global population and climate change impacts, the demand for clean and sustainable water solutions is paramount. H2O Allegiant is dedicated to tackling this challenge by connecting water conservation and water recycling projects, financing entities, and water technology solutions.

01. Describe the problem/the industry that you are trying to  mediate (and precise the UN SDG-s you are solving). 

H2O Allegiant's concerns lie at the intersection of water scarcity, inefficient use of water resources and the urgent need for sustainable water solutions. With the world's population expected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050, the demand for water will only increase, putting considerable pressure on our already limited freshwater resources. This challenge is exacerbated by climate change, which is causing more frequent and severe droughts, floods and other extreme weather events.

Our focus area is water management and sustainability, particularly water conservation and recycling projects. Our mission is in line with the UN SDG Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, which aims to "ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all".

02. How did the idea to create the company come to mind? How  did your team come to be? 

Juan Pablo has spent 15 years developing and implementing water solutions across different sectors. He identified a gap between water projects, water solutions and financing mainly due to lack of understanding amongst the parties, and the pains each party encountered along the process. To bridge the gap, Juan Pablo invited Lorena and Estefania to co-found Allegiant H2O, by providing an educational platform to connect parties and show the economic, social and environmental benefits that water projects represent. Lorena quickly understood the role Allegiant’s platform could play, acting as a modern water business developer, and relating to her previous experience working in a real estate business development fund. Estefania has a passion for marketing, writing and web3, which perfectly aligns to the goal of having a multidisciplinary team.

03. Why did you choose to participate in the Techstars Sustainability Paris Accelerator program?  

Our decision to participate in the Techstars Sustainability Paris accelerator program was based on its reputation for fostering innovation and providing valuable resources, mentoring and networking opportunities. We believe that Techstars will help us refine our business model, scale our impact, and connect us with potential partners, investors, and customers in the industry. We look forward to learning from experts, gaining insights from other innovative startups and leveraging the Techstars ecosystem to further our mission.

Juan Pablo participated as a mentor in the previous programme and quickly learned about the power of the tools and global network that Techstars represents.

04. What are you the most proud of in your initial journey with  your company? 

Our initial journey has consisted of explaining the concept and goal of the platform to different stakeholders. Allegiant has obtained LOI from over 10 different iconic projects, and the recognition of the need and impact our platform might have is something that makes us very proud. It is very gratifying for our team to know that the time we invest in Allegiant will be translated into making our world a better place.

05. How do you plan to measure the positive impact of your  company in the next 5 years? 

To measure the positive impact of H2O Allegiant in the next 5 years, we will track key environmental performance indicators, including:

• The volume of water conserved or recycled through the projects we facilitate

• The number of water conservation and recycling projects implemented with our support

• The amount of financing secured for water conservation and recycling projects

• The reduction in water waste and pollution as a result of our initiatives

• The increase in awareness and adoption of sustainable water practices among organisations and communities we engage with
