Inside a Techstars Accelerator: 13 Weeks from Orientation to Fundraising
August 26, 2026
A week-by-week look at how one Techstars accelerator program moves founders from orientation to fundraising, with stops in Boston, Columbus, Los Angeles, and San Francisco along the way.

Great accelerators aren't built around a single stage or a single city. They're built around the right people, in the right rooms, at the right time. That's the thinking behind the Techstars Columbus Powered by The Ohio State University program schedule this fall, a 13-week run that moves founders between Boston, Columbus, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and virtual sessions, each stop chosen for a reason.
Here's how the program breaks down, week by week.
The Full Program Schedule
Week 1 – Boston
Orientation & Network Integration – Build relationships within the class, connect with the broader Techstars network, and start networking with founders in Techstars’ fall programs.
Week 2 – Columbus
Ohio Ecosystem Immersion – Maximize your connectivity across Ohio. Meet the right people at The Ohio State University as well as industry leaders across Central Ohio, many of whom join our program kick-off mixer held this week.
Week 3 – Virtual
Mentor Madness – Back-to-back mentor meetings that push you to stress-test your business and build relationships across the network.
Week 4 – Columbus
Strategic Customer & Industry Engagement – Time to double down on relationships built in Weeks 2 & 3 through meetings and site visits with leading government and high-growth companies in the region. This face-to-face time is designed to spark potential customer and strategic relationships.
Week 5 – Virtual
Building Beyond the Product - Building a great company takes more than building a great product. This week focuses on the human and organizational side of entrepreneurship, with sessions on founder mental health and resilience, hiring and building strong teams, PR and communications, and other fundamentals that help founders build sustainable companies.
Week 6 – Los Angeles
LA Tech Week & Cross-Program Collaboration – Take advantage of the density of investors and deep tech companies in LA during Tech Week. We focus on targeted investor and customer meetings while tapping into the broader ecosystem that's in town for the week. We'll also collaborate with the Techstars Space program and their founders, joining their event with Leonid Capital and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.
Week 7 – Virtual
Pitch Narrative Development - Ahead of Demo Day and our fundraise activities, this week focuses on storytelling and nailing the pitch.
Week 8 – Columbus
Presentation & Demo Day Preparation – Get intensive in-person pitch coaching, stage presence, and presentation refinement.
Week 9 – Columbus
Demo Day & Construct I/O – Our Demo Day aligns with Construct I/O, a major tech conference in Columbus run by Ohio State’s Center for Software Innovation, when the highest concentration of the right people will be in town.
Week 10 – Columbus
Fundraising Bootcamp – We go deep on fundraising strategy, pitch deck, investor diligence, and outreach planning that builds toward a calendar-dense week of investor conversations in San Francisco.
Week 11 – San Francisco
Investor Engagement – We kick things off with an investor event to help you convert program momentum into fundraising velocity, along with a packed week of meetings set up via the bootcamp prep work.
Week 12 – Virtual
Follow-Through – Time for investor follow-up and continued fundraising execution.
Week 13 – Virtual
Program Wrap-Up – Final office hours, program retrospectives, and next-step planning, so founders leave with a clear post-program fundraising and growth plan.
Why the Schedule Looks Like This
Every trip has a job to do. Boston opens the program by building relationships before founders scatter into the work. Columbus does the heavy lifting on Ohio's manufacturing, defense, and research ecosystem, anchored by Ohio State and the region's biggest employers. LA Tech Week and the San Francisco trip put founders in front of the investors and customers who are already gathered in one place, so a week of travel turns into months of momentum.
The virtual weeks matter just as much as the flights. They're where founders catch their breath, synthesize what they just learned, and get their materials ready for the next in-person push, whether that's a fundraising workshop before LA Tech Week or a pitch script ahead of Demo Day.
By the time founders reach Demo Day, timed deliberately to overlap with Construct I/O, they've already had multiple rounds of customer conversations, mentor feedback, and pitch refinement. Fundraising Bootcamp and the San Francisco investor trip are the next step in a plan the founders have been building toward since Week 1.
