Startup Weekend Online Form Guides

Here are some additional guides to create forms for Startup Weekend Online.


Participants will be asked to submit their ideas during the registration process via Google Form prior to the event. All ideas submitted will be pitched live during the Pitchfire session on the first day of the event. 

To do: 

  1. Create an Idea submission form following the Idea Submission Form Structure below

  2. Get a pre-filled form link, click on the ‘Send’ button   on the top right-hand side and copy the link

  3. Share the pre-filled form link with your participants on the event registration site once registration is opened

  1. Send email reminders to encourage participants to submit their ideas from 2 weeks before the first day of the event. See participant communication templates here.

  2. On the afternoon of the event, before the kick-off, create a spreadsheet of all ideas submitted ready for the Pitchfire session. Go to Responses in the Idea submission form and click on the Spreadsheet button

FORM DESCRIPTION: Submit your idea to pitch on Friday using this form. Be sure to fill in all required fields. You should receive a confirmation of this once you've submitted the form. If you need any help, reach out to your organizing team or help@techstars.com

This will be your team name, and will help organisers of the event identify you.

    • BUSINESS  - I might not code or design but I have a great skill set for working on ideas

Friday Pitch Voting Form

Create a Form on Google Forms with details as follows for Friday Pitch Voting. Below is our suggested structure and details you should include in your Pitch Voting form.

FORM TITLE: Techstars Startup Weekend Online [CITY] - Friday Pitch Voting

FORM DESCRIPTION: Now that you've heard all the pitches, it's time to vote for the top ideas. Please select up to 3 ideas from the ones listed below. 

How to judge the ideas? 

- have you encountered the problem that the pitched idea is trying to solve?

- do you like the proposed solution?

- if the idea is selected, would you like to join the team and work on it this weekend?

Please select up to 3 ideas (Checkboxes, select at least 1 required)

One vote = one point.

  • Idea 1 (First & Last Name) -This is the first idea that was pitched and it's so great, it's going to change the world forever.

Create a Team Registration Form on Google Forms with details as follows for participant team formation. Below is our suggested structure and details you should include in your team registration form.

FORM TITLE: Techstars Startup Weekend [CITY] - Team Registration Form

FORM DESCRIPTION: Good job forming a team at Techstars Startup Weekend [CITY]!

Please complete this short team registration form. We ask for this information so that we can keep track of the teams formed at this event and follow up with you in the future. Don't worry, we will never send you promotional emails or share your information with others.

Sunday Form

Final Pitch Submission Form

Sunday Judging Form

FORM TITLE: Techstars Startup Weekend Online [CITY] - Sunday Judging Form

DESCRIPTION: Thank you for joining us as a judge at Techstars Startup Weekend Online {City}. Please use this form to rate each project based on the following judging criteria.

Business Model – How does the team plan on making this a successful business? Have they thought about (either solved or identified problems) competition, how to scale, acquiring customers, their revenue model, etc?

Customer Validation – Are teams building something that people actually want? How well does the team understand their customer and their customer’s needs? Did the team get out and talk to customers? What is the value proposition to customers?

Execution and Design - Have they established a “Minimal Viable Product” for the weekend (software, hardware, etc.)? *Note: an MVP is the minimum set of features to be able to start collecting data. Does it deliver a compelling and captivating user experience? Were they able to demo something functional?

FORM INSTRUCTIONS

1. For the question Which team are you rating, add the name of each team presenting on Sunday, instead of Team 1, Team 2, etc

2. From the settings tab, ensure that you DO NOT limit to 1 response per form.

3. Share this form with the judges before kickoff on Sunday afternoon.

4. Instruct the judges to fill in the form for each team.

  • Please rate each of the judging criteria on a scale of 1 to 5

    • 1 = Not mentioned/Insufficient

    • 2 = Mentioned, but unsatisfactory

    • 3 = Neutral

    • 4 = Good

    • 5 = Outstanding
