CircularPlace is a marketplace that promotes the pooling and sharing of companies' goods and equipment. It simplifies the management, recovery and reuse through sale, donation to associations and recycling.

01. Describe the problem/the industry that you are trying to  mediate (and precise the UN SDG-s you are solving).

The problem companies face is that there is no platform that offers to resell, donate and recycle while valuing the goods and equipment. The aim is also to engage companies in CSR (donation and recycling). By responding to the needs of these companies, CircularPlace is committed to the achievement of 4 Sustainable Development Goals: no poverty (SDG 1), more responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), the fight against global warming (SDG 13) and the connection of actors involved in the circular economy (SDG 17).

02. How did the idea to create the company come to mind? How did your team come to be?

It was during a previous professional experience that Vincent Rigal, purchasing manager, was asked to find a solution to meet the needs of the AGEC law. But there was no player that could meet all the needs. He then decided to develop the CircularPlace solution, allowing companies to engage in reuse. From this problem was born OBYDO in April 2021, which then became CircularPlace in June 2022.

CircularPlace is also a team. As willing, modern and creative as we are, our dream team is composed of collaborators with various talents and expertise. Today, we have a sales team, a design team, a product team, a communication and marketing team and a development team, working hand in hand with our CEO - Vincent Rigal, CFO - Alain Rouchet and CTO - Maxime Scholz.

03. Why did you choose to participate in the Techstars Sustainability Paris Accelerator program?

CircularPlace wanted to participate in the Techstars Sustainability Paris accelerator program in order to: structure our projects, improve our platform, market our product more and more, go international and raise funds.

04. What are you the most proud of in your initial journey with  your company?

These first days at Techstars were very enriching from a cultural but also social point of view. Techstars has enabled us to refocus our customer targeting in order to build an offer that best meets the needs of each company.

05. How do you plan to measure the positive impact of your  company in the next 5 years?

We have co - developed a carbon footprint impact calculator with ADEME. Our tool reveals the CO₂ impact of products saved from destruction.

We calculate the footprint, measure it and show the kg CO₂ savings you make from transactions.

The aim of our tool is to understand the overall impact of the destruction of products on global warming, avoiding throwing them away and giving them a second life. We can definitely give the CO2 impact that has been avoided thanks to CircularPlace within 5 years.
